Social data exploration

with 2 comments

I will have fun playing with Social data. The idea is to make a site where users can login with a social profile such as Facebook, Google or Twitter account. After the users login the user data will be extracted using the social API. The purpose is to explore Social sites API and use them to make web-tools for easy data exploration, make data visualizations or maybe even knowledge discovery using Data mining techniques.

I will put the content on this site.

I will use the Socialauth-net login framework.

  1. I’ve been trying to implement something similar, but could never get it working. Are you going to post any code? It would be very helpful to see how you did it.

    • You should check the Getting Started – How do I use SocialAuth.NET? section
      at http://code.google.com/p/socialauth-net/

For your own domain and Facebook webapp id.
Assuming your using Windows write in your host file: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
and map your website url to the same setting as in Facebook webapp settings which you setup in the Facebook developer site. This allows you to test login in your development environment.
